À l'occasion de la phase de groupes du Mid-Season Invitational 2022, la rédaction a pu poser des questions à Victor "Flakked" Lirola Tortosa, le botlaner pour la formation G2 Esports, l'occasion pour lui de faire un premier bilan des matchs allers, de parler des objectifs de l'équipe et les aspects qu'ils doivent améliorer pour la suite du tournoi.
During MSI 2022 G2 botlaner Victor "Flakked" Lirola Tortosa answered our questions.
So congratulations for your win against Order. You are now 3-0 for the beginning of tournament. How do you feel?
Flakked: “I mean, so far so good. I think there are some things that we can still improve on, but I think it's just the beginning of the tournament. So I'm not really worried and yeah. Being chilling. Yeah.What are the things you think you can improve? Because so far you look pretty dominant in the in the tournament. So what are the things you think you can improve?
Flakked: I mean, I think I think early game especially and some of the mid-game like some of the decisions we take in mid-game and especially early game are not the best and as well we can they need to improve in matchups because like this is the better change and stuff we need to work a lot to know everything back. But I'm still really confident on the team.
Coming in 2020 to you, you replaced Rekkles in G2. Now coming into the international stage is there any kind of pressure linked to the replacement?
Flakked : I mean, I don't think there's any pressure like at least for the replacement, like I don't mind who I replace. Like, of course, in the media, if I int, I'm going to get like even more flame because a lot of people think they kicked Rekkles because of me. But I don't feel like any extra pressure or anything. I still think Rekkles is, like, insane player. And I learned a lot from him. And I have, like, a lot of respect for him. But yeah, I don't really have any extra pressure.
So, of course, I think your goal in this MSI is to win it. Is there any team that you're looking forward to face ?
F: I mean, for sure, I want to play like all the other teams. But yeah, especially I think T1, RNG is the two biggest things that I really want to face. I really like their botlanes, especially T1 botlane. And yeah, I really want to look forward to playing them.
Okay. So you ended the split in Europe in with a perfect lower bracket run. Is there any kind of goal of this kind for the summer splits?
F: I mean, I would like to do a perfect run, but in the winter bracket, not in the lower bracket. But yeah, I think I think in summer split, if we keep working the same way we are doing right now and, and the meta like doesn't really and ruin us and, and everything works fine for us. I think I think, like I'm really confident for the playoffs ,like me and Targa got like so much experience from this last playoffs and I think like Jankos, BB and caPs are already like enough experience. So I think for summer we are gonna be like even more insane than, than in spring.
Before MSI, after winning LCS, Jojo said, “we're going to shit on EU”. So far it hasn't been a great tournament for IG they seem to have need a bit of warmup do you think they can oppose a threat to you or do you think you just keep crushing them.
F: I mean, I think they can improve a lot. Obviously. I think every team can improve a lot, but I don't think they're going to be ever close to beating us. I still think that like really good team and really good players individually and they have like a lot of potential, but I think we are just better in every single lane.
Okay. There is an issue since now 2 years. It’s the time between the end of MSI and beginning of summer split and burnout linked to this. Do you think it's a threat that is real for G2? Do you think you you're not subject to this?F: I mean, I think everyone is like every single player is a threat of getting burnout. But from G2, we're like already thinking on it. Like for sure we will have like the maximum of time of we can, but as well we will have like some scrims to not like go into the summer play without like scrims. But I don't think, I don't think we're like really scared of burnout because we are like really motivated players and we are like constantly grinding. So. Yeah.
Now the last word is use if you have anything to say to your fans.
F: My fans?
Yeah. Your fans in France.
F: *laughs* my fans in France. Okay. I mean, I'm not sure if I have a lot of fans in France, but yeah, I mean, everyone that supports me, I don’t care of the country. I really love them. And everyone that hates I don’t care, I guess. But yeah, thank you. Thank you guys for, cheering, cheering for me. And I will try to make Targa win MSI and win everything because I really love him and I think he's fucking insane. So yeah, that is all I can do for France .
