After his qualification for the Rumble Phase of 2021 MSI, Marek "Humanoid" Brázda, midlaner for MAD Lions, answered our questions.
Thank you so much for accepting this interview, first of all, congratulations for your qualification to the next stage of the MSI, how do you feel?
Humanoid: It feels pretty good to be advancing, didn't get to feel that way at Worlds last year so, at least, now I know how it feels.Speaking of Worlds last year, it was of course a disappointment that you didn't move forward into the Group Stage, what is the biggest change in the team that allowed you to move to the next stage of this MSI in comparison of Worlds? Is it the two new players or something in your playstyle?
I think it's mostly because of the two new players and mostly because of the team is not rookies anymore and all of them played at least their second year except Elyoya and so that helps a lot as well. But in terms of playstyle, I think we are basically the same as last year, so nothing really changed about that.You brought in Armut who is the first Turkish import, was there a big difference between the playstyle he had and the playstyle that is usually played in Europe?
I don't think so. I think the playstyle of his and other toplaners is very similar and you know they don't do anything really different, they just play the game and that's basically it.Now focusing on the MSI, the midlane meta is, I’d say kinda the same as in Europe, we've seen a lot of Orianna Zoe, we've a bit of unusual picks, we've seen Zed and your Kog’maw, do you think there's room for some other champions that we haven't seen yet or not?
I think right now you can play these off meta champions when the top 3/4 midlaners are ban, because if you try to counterpick Orianna with some random champions that are off meta you're just gonna get destroyed. So there's a room for more champions but only with 3/4 midlane bans.So if the three main midlaners are banned we get to expect more surprises like the Kog’maw from you?
I mean, I think the Kog’maw was troll, not gonna lie. But for sure there are, there should be some other pick that you can play to control some other champions like Zoe or stuff like that.Next stage for you is rumble for there is still one day of competition left, the group with DAMWON Kia and C9, it's almost already done for DAMWON but C9 is in a tough spot, do you think they can make it and face you the next week?
I think they for sure can make it, I think they are really strong, they just haven't showed it on stage, it's just BO1 and if you get unlucky games on stage it's really hard to advance, it's a bit hard to get used to play on stage because I don't think their level is actually what they are showing on stage right now, I think they can play better.To keep talking about the next step, who are you looking forward to face?
I hope I could face C9 actually, I think it would be really fun EU vs NA; other than that, I’d like to play against DAMWON, since they are just the Worlds winners and it would be really fun to play against them as well.You didn't mention RNG in the team you'd like to face, may I ask why?
I'd like to face C9 for the rivalry EU vs NA, DAMWON because they're world champions, I’d like to face RNG too but if I had to choose one it'd be DAMWON Because I think they're better.What makes them better according to you?
I think they play more smart than RNG, yeah that's basically it, they play more smart. RNG plays a more aggressive style, I think the Korean style of DAMWON would match pretty well.Looking a bit after MSI, you'll comeback in Europe as the champions, which is something a bit unusual compared to the previous years, which is the biggest threat in Europe for you?
For sure, the Spring Split wasn't a stomp from us, it was very close, there's like three teams that could have won it this year so I expect next split to be the same and I don't think that we are way better than G2 or Rogue, I think they are really strong and everyone can win next split.What are your cards to keep your crown?
I don't think we need to change anything, we are going to continue what we've done for the past split since it worked so hopefully it will work again next split.The last word is yours, anything you want to say to the fans?
